Mantra and Pranayama
A mantra is a sacred utterance, a numinous sound, a syllable, word or phonemes, or group of words. Mantra recitation is a powerful way to utilize sound at various levels in repetition to release subtle vibrations and suggestions to the self and cosmos. Pranayama is the practice of focusing on the breath which is associated with our life force. Different mantras and pranayama techniques manifest healing, strength, calm and balance. In these sessions we will explore various prasiddha mantras (safe and gifted to all to use) and gentle pranayama breath techniques to assist the mind to focus, the body to relax, and the spirit to shine. Drop-in participants welcome.

Raka Pushpanajali Bandyo (Pushpa) is the first generation of an Indian family to be born and raised in the United States. Her father was the pandit (ceremonial officiant) for her community growing up, just as his father and his grandfather for generations. Her mother taught her meditation and the teachings of Sri Rama Krishna Parahamsa and Sarada Ma from a young age. She is a Jyotish Vedic Astrology and Mantra Shastra student of Pandit Sanjay Rath, was initiated in mantra by the RamaKrishna mission, and is both student and teacher of Odissi Classical Indian Dance and Ayurveda.
